Electrical fire knocks out power at Wiley Creek

Sweet Home firefighters respond Tuesday evening, April 8, to the Wiley Creek Community after a power surge shorted out an electrical conduit and knocked out power to part of the complex. Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District Battalion Chief Shannon Pettner said the fire was out by the time firefighters arrived, shortly after 10 p.m., but it had charred surrounding studs and sheetrock in a wall. She said residents were evacuated to a safe facility, another wing that was closed off by fire-proof doors. An electrician was called in to fix the problem.
