Elenore Genevieve Phillips, 93, of Sweet Home, passed away April 21, 2022.
She was born Nov. 20, 1928, in Fossil to John A. and Dilla Viola (Beymer) Glaefke.
She has lived in Sweet Home, Estacada, Fossil and Shaniko, Oregon and Pollock Pines, Calif.
Elenore was a nutrition coordinator at KidCo Head Start. She also volunteered and was director at Sweet Home Gleaners, FairShare and the Oregon Food Bank. Her goal at Sweet Home Gleaners was to help people help themselves.
She was a member of Temple Baptist Church, Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Elm Street Baptist Church, Sweet Home Mennonite and Freedom Hill all in Sweet Home at various times in her life.
She loved reading, puzzles and traveling. Her sense of adventure was famous! If there was an alternate route that went into territory unknown, Elenore was always ready to take the adventurous path.
Elenore is survived by her children: daughter Diana and her husband Robert Williams of Sweet Home, son Richard and his wife Chong Hui Phillips of Sweet Home, daughter Tonna and her husband Steve McGee of Conway, Ark., daughter Ancie and her husband Bruce Smith of Sweet Home, and daughter Lori Sharp, also of Sweet Home, son Allen Lee Peck and wife Anna of Creswell, Norma Northorn of Alaska, daughter Carol and her husband Bill Walker of Woodburn, daughter Lorraine Chips of Washington, son Bruce Phillips of Salem, and daughter-in-law Kandy Phillips of Walla Walla, Wash.; 30 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 49 great-great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husbands Gordon Waterhouse in 1953, Allen Peck in 1963, and Henry Phillips in 2003; and sons Duane Ray in 2011, Jim Lee Phillips in 2008, William Roger in 2017 and William Ray many years ago.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 1, at Freedom Hill Church, 2470 Main St., in Sweet Home.
