Central 12
Things looked grim for the Husky baseball team at the top of the seventh Friday at Central when they trailed 12-4, but they scored 11 runs to take a 15-12 win.
“This was an incredible comeback,” Coach Dan Tow said. “Everybody hit in the last inning. We had a lot of people really come through. Randy Wunker had two hits and four RBI in the inning. B.J. Emmert had two hit in the inning, and Andy Ellis had two hits in the inning.
“Our kids deserve a lot of credit for not giving up. To come back from an eight-run deficit in one inning is really an outstanding accomplishment. A lot of things have to go right, and that’s exactly what happened.
“B.J. Emmert pitched in the fifth and sixth innings and did a great job, and Mike Nagamatsu got the save throwing in the seventh inning.”
Losing pitcher was Noah Padilla. He was relieved by David Navarette.
At the plate, Ellis went 3-3 with a double, an RBI and three runs. Emmert went 3-4 with a homerun, two RBI and four runs. Wunker went 2-3 with a double and four RBI. Rich Erevia had two singles, and Jake Gaskey added a double.
For Central, Brandt hit a two-run home run. Herbert went 3-4, including a double and a triple. Crockett went 2-4 with a double and a home run.

Stayton 5
Sweet Home 1
Stayton defeated the Husky baseball team 5-1 on the road April 17.
“Mike (Nagamatsu) pitched fairly well, and we played well defensively,” Coach Tow said. “We just couldn’t get anything going on offense. The balls we hit well seemed to be right at them.
“Our pitching and defense has been very good, a big improvement from last year. We just need to get things going offensively, and we’ll be a tough team to beat.”
At bats, Gaskey went 1-1 singling and scoring a run. Scott May went 1-1. Nagamatsu went 1-3. Sean Hegge went 1-3. Josh Bondesen had the RBI on a fielder’s choice.
Mike Gaddis hit a solo home run for Stayton, and Ken Leming went 2-3 with two RBI.
