Elks provide supplies to teachers

Sweet Home Elks held their seventh annual supplies giveaway for local teachers Wednesday, Oct. 10 at the Elks Lodge. Lodge members purchase basic classroom necessities, along with individual items requested by local teachers, and donate them. This year’s collection totaled about $4,000 worth of supplies, according to lodge member and organizer Kimi Nash. This year’s supplies went to K-6 teachers at Hawthorne, Oak Heights and the Sweet Home Charter School, as well as Central Linn teachers. Charly Bashaw, lodge secretary, said the response from teachers was the largest yet.
