Ellen ‘Frances’ Veilhauer

Ellen “Frances” Veilhauer, 100, of Sweet Home, died Thursday.

She was born in Michigan to Earl and Myrtle (Atkinson) Reed.

Frances graduated in 1924 from Adelphian Academy in Michigan. She taught school for eight years. She became a national transcriber for the blind.

In 1943 she married Edwin Veilhauer. He was drafted soon after their marriage. She went to school at PUC while he was in the service. Her husband died in 1962. She then cared for her father and her brother. She later moved in with her sister Dora Reed, who died in 1994.

She is survived by her niece, Betty Oliver; her cousin, Gertrude Atkinson, and great-nieces and nephews.

Graveside service were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, at IOOF Cemetery in Lebanon. Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel handled the arrangements.
