Elmira scored six runs in the sixth inning to seal a win over the Husky baseball team 8-1 on March 18 at Elmira.

“This was really a pretty good baseball game until the bottom of the sixth,” Coach Dan Tow said. “We gave up a bunch of runs, and that kind of did us in.

“We played well defensively, and I thought Mike (Nagamatsu) pitched well with six strikeouts and two walks in five innings of work.

“We just need to put some hits together and have people come through with some big hits with men on base. We had our chances, but we didn’t capitalize, and they had some big hits.

“We shows a good deal of improvement over our first game in that we didn’t beat ourselves. Elmira had big hits, and they just beat us.”

Carey Hintze went 2-3 at bats and scored the Huskies’ only run. Donny Cliver went 1-2. Bryce Beard, Nagamatsu and Richard Erevia all singled, and Ken May hit a sacrifice fly.

For Elmira, Brown hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning. Estrella went 3-4.

On the mound, Brown pitched four strikeouts and two walks for Elmira.
