Emil LaFond

May 13, 1933 – March 19, 2008

Emil Joseph Tony LaFond, 74, of Sweet Home died March 19, 2007.

He was born May 13, 1933 in Winchendon, Mass., to Joseph and Doris LaFond.

Mr. LaFond lived in Sweet Home for 31 years after moving from Klamath Falls. He was in the Air Force from 1947 to 1954.

He worked at Bauman sawmill. He was a preacher for more than a year at Siletz Church. He loved being an active member of Hwy 20 Church of Christ. Mr. LaFond was also a hearing aid specialist for 30 years.

He loved gardening, yard work, teaching and participating in Bible studies and preaching when possible. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. LaFond is survived by his wife, Tina; children, Will and Marla Wheatley of Portland, SPC Brion and Ahna LaFond of Ft. Lewis, Wash., Lloyd and Kathy Bly of Sweet Home, and Larry, Jeff, Toni and Theresa LaFond of California; eight grandchildren, and a great-grandchild on the way; brothers, Donald and Felix LaFond and Robert Christian; sisters, Jennette LaFond Rice, Hazel LaFond O’Connell, and Betty Christian Boisvert of Massachusetts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Doris LaFond, and brother Henry LaFond, all of Massachusetts.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, at Highway 20 Church of Christ.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
