Emma Hubler Birky, 97, of Cascadia, died March 18, 2012 at her home.
She was born July 18, 1914 in Morris, Pa. to Thomas “Howard” & Ellen Hoover Bumbarger.
She married Roland Hubler on Jan. 21, 1931 in Pennsylvania. They moved to Oregon in 1940 and, in 1945, bought the house where she resided for the rest of her life. Mr. Hubler died in 1979.
Mrs. Birky cleaned houses for several families over the years. She enjoyed being a homemaker, quilting, crocheting and indoor plants. On Dec. 26, 1991 she married Glenn Birky in Sweet Home; he died in 2002.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Stokes; son Robert and daughter-in-law Isabelle Hubler, all of Cascadia; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Birky was preceded in death by her husbands; four brothers; and seven sisters.
Services are planned at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at Cascadia Bible Church in Cascadia. Private family services will be held before the committal service at Gilliland Cemetery in Sweet Home.
The family suggests memorials be made to Cascadia Bible Church.
