Equestrian team places well

The Sweet Home High School equestrian team placed well during its first meet of the year from March 11-13.

“In all of the events this year, all our classes were big, especially the gaming and steer events,” Coach Chris Ross said. “I believe, in barrels were 64 riders. In team penning, there were 48 teams. The same with two-man birangle. For the kids to be placing like they did, I was extremely happy.”

The Huskies are the top small-school team in the state. They finished third overall at the meet.

Jessalyn Seiber, Amanda Swanson and Larissa Bjornsen finished third in team penning.

Seiber, Swnason, Tracy Smith and Cera Kem finished third in drill team, working fours.

Vance Wolfe Amanda Hilburn and Kem finished 24th in b-team.

Smith, Swanson, Kem and Bjornsen were eighth in in-hand obstacle relay.

Swanson, Hilburn, Kem and Smith were 11th in Canadia flags.

Seiber and Bjornsen were were 17th, Smith and Hilburn were 27th an Kem and Smith were 44th in two-man birangle.

Bjornsen was fourth in showmanship, 11th in reining, 19th in hunt seat, 18th in dressage and 11th in stock seat.

Seiber was 12th in steer daubing, 25th in barrels, 17th in figure-eights, 12th in keyhold and 13th in poles.

Smith was 32nd in showmanship, 37th in barrels, 44th in figure-eights and 18th in keyhole.

Kem was 16th in steer daubing, 13th in stock seat and 45th in figure-eights.

Wolfe was 16th in steer daubing, 34th in barrels, 41st in figure-eights, 24th in keyhole and 34th in poles.

Swanson was 16th in steer daubing, 27th in barrels, 32nd in figure-eights and 27th in poles.

Hilburn was 24th in barrels, 21st in figure-eights, fourth in flags and 14th in keyhole.
