Ernie Lawrence Volkers, 53, of Sweet Home, passed away Sept. 7, 2025, in Warrenton with his family and friends by his side.

He was born Oct. 6, 1971, in Lebanon to Edgar B. and Patricia D. (Ebert) Volkers, and was a lifelong resident of Sweet Home.

He graduated in the Sweet Home High School Class of 1991. After graduation, Ernie had a variety of occupations, enlisting in the Oregon National Guard (1990-93), working at Comcast as a lead installer and programmer, and working for his parents at Video Trak as a satellite dish installer/programmer.

He also worked for his parents at the Frontier Restaurant in Sweet Home as a bartender and bouncer and, upon his parents’ retirement, became a part owner of the bar and restaurant. He also worked security for an RV resort and Walmart as a greeter and store security.

Ernie had several hobbies, ranging from amateur boxing, boating and water skiing, to shooting rifles, camping and enjoying trips to the coast.

He loved being around his family and friends.

Ernie is survived by daughters: Kim (Brandon) Williams of Crawfordsville, and Ariel (Corey) Dabrowski of Backus, Minn.; brother Ed (Denise) Volkers Jr. of Gig Harbor, Wash.; sisters Debe (Bob) Barnes of Warrenton, and Pam Lewis of Eugene; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Patricia Volkers.

A viewing will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at St. Helen Catholic Church in Sweet Home, followed by a recitation of the Rosary at 10:30 a.m. and funeral Mass at 11 a.m., followed by a reception in the fellowship hall. Final burial will be 1:30 p.m. at Gilliland Cemetery in Sweet Home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Ernie’s name to St. Helen Catholic Church or the charity of your choice.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
