Eugene Jungwirth
March 2, 1939 – June 30, 2026
Eugene Leslie Jungwirth, 87, of Sweet Home, passed away June 30, 2026.
He was born March 2, 1939, in Silverton, to Rose Marie (Schwindt) and Edward J. Jungwirth.
Eugene was part of Boy Scout Troop 51 in Lebanon and became an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1957, then enlisted in the Navy. While he served, he witnessed seven atomic bombs and travelled all over the world with the Navy.
After his discharge from the Navy, he moved to California and started logging. He attended Shasta College, earning an associate’s degree.
In 1976, he moved to Oregon and enjoyed the living out the rest of his life here with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed.
He enjoyed woodworking and was a member of the American Legion. Eugene was intelligent and humble and encouraged his children to continually pursue their goals.
Eugene is survived by his sons, Jeff Hanes, Scott Jungwirth, Lance Large and their families; brother Ralph Jungwirth; sister Linda Jungwirth.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward; mother, Rose; sisters Elaine Dahl and Karen Kamisky; brothers and brothers Richard Jungwirth and Jim Jungwirth.
