Eugene Todd, 92, of Sweet Home passed away Wednesday. Born on May 9, 1924 in Gravetta, Arkansas the son of Dick and Stella (Robb) Todd.

Eugene lived in Gravette until 1966 when he moved west moved to Yakima, WA where he worked in the hop fields. Eventually settling in Sweet Home in 1968 where he work as a tree planter until his retirement in 1975. Sweet Home would be his home until his death.

He liked working on cars, hunting and taking rides in the country.

Eugene is survived by his wife, Nellie Todd of Sweet Home; daughter, Cheryl Lewis of Yakima, Wash .; sons, Richard Tod of Yakima, and Doug Todd of Sweet Home. 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sons, James, Merlin and Lloyd; and one daughter, Linda.

Eugene was buried at Gilliland Cemetery in a private service. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements. http://www.sweethomefuneral.com

Joey Velasquez

May 17, 1981 – April 7, 2017

Joey Velasquez, 35, a former Sweet Home resident, died April 7, 2017.

He was born May 17, 1981 in California. He moved to Sweet Home in 1997 and graduated in 2000 from Sweet Home High School.

He loved four-wheeling in the woods, bonfires and camping. He always helped the underdog. There wasn’t a mean bone in his body.

Mr. Velasquez is survived by his mother, Tammie Donavon; stepfather Dwayne Donavon; sister Angie Velasquez; son Bradley Hillburn; daughter Hollana Velasquez; and son Joey Velasquez.

A memorial service is planned at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 15, at Hillside Fellowship.
