Former Sweet Home cross-country runners were well-represented Oct. 24 at the Oregon State University Beaver Classic at Avery Park in Corvallis.
Cassandra Schumacher, running for OSU, was 26th overall out of 112 runners, finishing the 6,000-meter course in 23:20.
Amanda Basham, running for Pacific University, was right behind her in 30th place, in 23:28. Kambria Schumacher of OSU was 51st in 24:12.
Basham, a sophomore, led the Pacific women to an eighth-place team finish at the Nortwest Conference Championships Saturday, Oct. 31, at McIver State Park.
Basham fought off illness to finish the 6,000-meter course in 23:39.20.
Joseph Deardorff, a freshman from Independence who competed for Central against the Huskies last year, led the Pacific men with a solid race, finishing just one second off of his personal best at the 8,000-meter distance in 30th place at 27:21.72.
