Sweet Home High School will be hosting two exchange students next year from its sister school, Josai High School, in Tokyo, Japan. This is the program’s 28th year.
The two Josai students, both girls, will arrive in Sweet Home on Aug. 26 and will remain in Sweet Home until next June. In the past local families have hosted students for half or whole school years. “This program is very rewarding and has been a part of our community for a very long time,” said director Steve Hummer.
Those interested in hosting a student should e-mail Hummer at [email protected] or call 541-401-4456. “This is a great opportunity for you to learn about the Japanese culture, meet a teenager from a foreign country and make a long lasting friendship,” Hummer said. “Please help me keep the exchange going by opening your home if you have space, the economic resources and a love for kids and learning new cultures.”
