Failed insulator to blame for power outage

More than 17,000 Pacific Power customers in Sweet Home and Lebanon were without power on the evening of July 14.

The outage was caused by a failed insulator on one of the larger transmission lines on Old Santiam Hwy across from Pineway Golfcourse, said Tom Gauntt, Pacific Power spokesman.

The outage started at 7:20 p.m.

Power in Lebanon was restored at 8:20 p.m. In Sweet Home, power was back up at 8:43 p.m.

The 470 customers in Waterloo were without power until 3 a.m.
