The second annual Fashion for Compassion benefit gives attendees the opportunity to have a fun night out and be pampered while helping someone in need.

The event will be held at 5 p.m. on Feb. 2 at the Lebanon Seventh Day Adventist Fellowship Hall/Gymnasium, 690 S. 10th St. in Lebanon.

The evening will feature dinner, live music, a hair stylist, two Mary Kay consultants and Weekenders Clothing.

Upon arrival, attendees can sign up for free hair cuts and styles from a Trendsetters stylist. Weekenders Clothing will give a presentation on how to use a limited number of clothing items to make multiple outfits. Items will be available to try on, and 20 percent of all purchases made, as well as all money donated, will be credited to the event’s benefactors, who will use the money to help build wardrobes for needy women.

Weekenders Clothing will help the benefactors choose mix-and-match items that will provide them with a variety of outfits that they can wear to work.

Live music will be provided by a musician from Southern Oregon.

“I wanted to come together with the community and have a fun evening to enjoy and be pampered a little bit,” said Tawny Sportsman, the event organizer. “While you’re doing that you could also be doing something for someone else. The point is to come together and, while you’re being blessed, we can be blessing someone else at the same time.”

Last year, Fashion for Compassion helped a new mother who needed clothing for work to purchase a whole new wardrobe. This year two recipients have been chosen, one from Sweet Home and one from Lebanon, and Sportsman hopes both women will be given complete wardrobes.

For more information, contact Sportsman at (541) 367-4485 or [email protected]. It is not required, but it helps her to estimate how much food to prepare for the benefit.
