Fast, fun times in 7th Sweetheart Run in SH

Scott Gullickson left the field in whatever dust hadn’t been dampened by the rain Saturday with a sizzling finish to the seventh annual Sweetheart 5K run, clocking a 17:59.

The race started and finished at Weddle Bridge in Sankey Park. Due to COVID precautions, competiors were clocked by net time, as they were not able to start en masse.

Gullickson, 57, of Ridgefield, Wash., beat his nearest competitor, Ben Tolman, 15, of Sweet Home, by nearly six minutes. Tolman finished in 23:46.

Third was Robert Dunn, 51, in 25:26.

For the women, Felecia Richards, 45, finished first in 25:46.1, followed by Brandy Gaskey, 37, in 28:24.6 and Tami Keesecker, 37, in 28:26.3. Other finishers under 30 minutes for the women were Heather Sitton, 46, fourth in 28:30.9, and Brye Lester, 35, fifth in 28:50.8.

In the men’s 10K, Carl Hoogesteger, 39, finished first in 45.40, ahead of Cameron Sawyer, 43 (46.42) and Mark Peterson, 48, who ran 49:49. Ken Bronson , 65, was fourth in 57.47.

For the women, Tami Cockeram, 58, was first in the 10K in 58:25; Carol Wagner, 47, was second in 59:04; followed by Michelle Christensen, 36 (59:28) and Gina Loraine-McKibben, 51 (59:28).

In the wheelchair division, Gerritt Schaffer, 45, finished the 10K in 40:53.6.
