A home in the 28000 block of Fern Ridge Road is in ruins after being engulfed in flames early Sunday morning.
According to a press release from the Sweet Home Fire District, crews arrived on scene at about 3:40 a.m. to find the house completely in flames. They say a woman at the scene told them it was her home and everyone was out.
The fire posed a challenge to firefighters, due to a lack of fire hydrants in the area. SHFD called out a water tender and almost a dozen firefighters, before sounding a second alarm and bringing in backup from Brownsville, Halsey and Lebanon.
District officials said firefighters battled the fire for over five hours. They say the remains of the home could smolder for several days. The cause of the fire could not be determined, according to the press release.
