Final election votes tallied

Newcomer Mary Massey and incumbents Mike Adams and Dale Keene all will serve on the Sweet Home School Board after winning seats in the May 16 election, according to final vote totals certified by the Linn County Elections Office.

Massey finished with 55.24% of the vote over incumbent Kevin Hill’s 44.29%, in the race for the Zone 3 (Foster) seat.

Keene finished with 42.40% over challengers Manuel Grajeda, with 37.80% and Leon Vineyard with 19.29% for Zone 9 (Sweet Home).

Adams finished with 74.93% of the vote over challenger Jack Lapham (24.58%) for the Zone 5 (At Large) seat.

Amanda Carter, Floyd Neuschwander and Jenna Jo Northern all ran unchallenged for the Zone 2 (Liberty), Zone 4 (Cascadia) and Zone 6 (Crawfordsville) seats, respectively.

In the single contested race for the Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District Board of Directors, Position 2, incumbent Charlene Adams finished with 52.17% of the vote over challenger Dave Trask (47.34%).

Both newcomer Jim Yon and incumbent Larry Johnson ran unchallenged for positions 1 and 3.

In the race for the Zone 1 (Sweet Home and Brownsville) seat on the Linn-Benton Community College Board of Directors, incumbent and current board chair Kristin Adams finished with 53.32% of the vote, defeating Stephen Irwin of Brownsville at 46.19%.

Bryan Gardner ran unchallenged for the Sweet Home Cemetery District Board of Directors Position 3.

Countywide, the voter turnout was 18.23%, as 17,756 votes were cast out of 97,398 registered voters. Turnout in Sweet Home was roughly 17%.
