Firefighters battle a blaze on the old Weyerhaeuser mill property, now owned by Linn County at the north end of 24th Avenue, Friday night. The fire destroyed a small outbuilding. Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District and Oregon Department of Forestry Sweet Home Unit responded to a possible brush fire at 9:24 p.m. They found a fully involved outbuilding constructed of large timbers. No one was around the area, according to the SHFAD report. The cause remains under investigation. SHFAD responded with nine firefighters and four pieces of apparatus, with assistance from ODF.
