The Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District on June 20 approved a $8.8 million budget for the 2023-24 fiscal year.

Also at the meeting, the board:

— Approved the transfer of $75,000 appropriations from the general fund to the equipment reserve fund for the purchase of a pickup and a staff Suburban.

— Approved the appropriation of $103,853 in received conflagration funds to the general fund, increasing the appropriation in the personnel services line item by $80,000 and the materials and services line item by $23,853.

— Heard from Fire Chief Nick Tyler that the district’s transportation rate for May was 58.56%, which he called “a good number.”

— Made a motion to pay the $215,298 balance of a Rosenbauer Type 3 from the 2023-24 reserve fund.

— Made a motion to buy a Bauer air compressor next month for $74,000. According to Tyler, the district’s current air compressor is broken, and parts are difficult to find.
