A vacant home on north 19th Avenue burned Saturday night, Nov. 8.
According to Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District, fire crews arrived at 1909½ 19th Ave., near Willow Street, just after 7:30 p.m. to find heavy fire and smoke coming from the structure.
Initially, firefighters were unsure if anyone was inside, and performed a rapid search that confirmed it was unoccupied.
Crews worked for about 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control, as the house is located in an unhydrated area. The commanding officer issued a second alarm to bring in additional manpower and fire apparatus from Brownsville and Lebanon.
Crews remained on the scene for another two hours after the fire was extinguished, performing overhaul.
A total of three command officers, 16 firefighters and eight apparatus, including a ladder truck from Lebanon and a tanker from Brownsville, responded.
The cause of the fire was undetermined, SHFAD reported.
No injuries were reported.
