Firefighters responded to a call at 4:08 a.m. on Nov. 5, for a house fire at 28600 Jones Dr. in Foster.
The homeowner kept the fire at bay with a garden hose until firefighters arrived, said Lt. Zach Lincoln, of Sweet Home Fire District.
The cause is still under investigation.
“I am waiting on some statements before we make an official determination,” Lincoln said. “We can tell you investigators believe it started near the stove.”
Two people were home at the time of the fire but they were not injured.
The fire spread to the second floor and the attic.
The structure was not destroyed and most of the homeowners’ property remained intact because the doors were shut, Lincoln said.
The fire resulted in an approximately $25,000 loss.
Lebanon and Brownsville firefighters assisted in battling the two-alarm fire.
Lincoln said because the investigation is ongoing, they are withholding the names of the homeowners but the Linn County Assessor’s site shows the owners as Verelley Thomas and Lewellen Stanford.
Firefighters were on the scene until 6:24 a.m.
