Fire destroyed the home at 4302 Airport Road Saturday morning.
Sweet Home firefighters responded at 6:32 a.m.
The property owner is listed as Duane Putney, Whitefield said, and about five persons live at the house. No one was injured in the fire.
The cause was possibly related to a heater or a audio equipment near a curtain, Whitfield said. It looked like the fire originated at a curtain in the northwest part of the home, behind the garage.
When firefighters arrived, that back room, the garage, carport and three cars were well-involved, Whitefield said. The east of the home sustained heavy smoke damage with fire damage in different parts of the house, gutting the home.
Whitfield estimated the damage at $225,000 for the home and $100,000 for the contents.
With the metal roof and the brick walls, Whitefield said. “It was like a dutch oven. It took a long time to get it out.”
“This one was tough. It was hard on the firefighters, hard to get to,” because the roof and brick helped contain the heat inside the building, Whitfield said.
Fifteen firefighters responded with four pieces of apparatus. Lebanon Fire District provided mutual aid.
