Fire destroys Anderson home on Marks Ridge

A fire destroyed the home of Arvid Anderson on May 18.

Firefighters responded to 41950 Marks Ridge Rd. at 4:12 p.m.

They found a single-wide mobile home about 75-percent involved, Fire Chief Mike Beaver said. Anderson was at an appointment when the fire started. He returned to find his home on fire. His daughter, Denise Hegge reported the fire.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined, Chief Beaver said. “There so much damage” around the area of origin, the kitchen area, investigators could not determine the cause.

Anderson had been cooking on the stove area earlier and theorized he may have left the burner on, Chief Beaver said. Firefighters did not find the aluminum pot he had been using though they found other pots and pans.

The roof, walls and floor were pretty much burned away in the kitchen area, Chief Beaver said. He estimated total damage to the structure and contents at $50,000 or less.

“The fire actually knocked down very quickly,” Chief Beaver said. “The majority of the fuel load in the trailer had burned before we got there.”

By that point, he was more concerned about protecting the nearby double-wide manufactured home Anderson was setting up and planning to move to.

Chief Beaver believes Anderson stayed at his son-in-law’s home following the fire.
