A fire destroyed a van and seriously damaged the passenger side of another vehicle Monday at 7:02 a.m. in the Thriftway parking lot.
Sweet Home Police Officer Jeff Lynn noticed the first vehicle on fire and reported the fire spread to the second vehicle.
The first vehicle was driven by James Drury, 42, of 28915 Liberty Rd. He and his son, John, were headed into town from the Liberty area, and the van bean running poorly. They pulled into the Thriftway parking lot, got out of the van and noticed it was glowing underneath. They removed some personal possessions, and Officer Lynn noticed the fire.
Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance Fire District responded to put out the fire.
Drury’s 1987 Ford van was destroyed. The second car, a 1987 Chrysler, was driven by Deborah Larsen, 43, of 25719 Brush Creek Rd.
