Sweet Home firefighters spent more than five hours putting out fires on two buildings in the Timber Landing Motor Home Park. Crews arrived on scene around 2 a.m., Dec. 13 and found a motorhome engulfed in flames, according to a press release from the Sweet Home Fire District.
In the press release, district officials said the involved motorhome was right next to another building, which “quickly” caught on fire, with flames visible on the roof.
A number of obstacles compounded fire crews’ efforts. Large arborvitae and chain link fence made it difficult for firefighters to battle the fire from behind, according to the press release. Firefighters used saws to cut into the fence and arborvitae.
Additionally, the fire hydrant crews needed was on the other side of Highway 20, forcing firefighters to shut down the highway so they could run hoses across the road, the press release said.
Fire crews spoke with the occupant of the motorhome and learned the fire was caused by a broken propane line near a wood stove, the press release said. It also stated the occupant was taken to Lebanon Community Hospital for “evaluation of non-life-threatening injuries.”
