Floyd (Swede) Milton Anderson, of Sweet Home died Oct. 5, 2006.
He was born July 11, 1923 in Todd County, Minn., to Henry and Alma Anderson. He was raised on the family farm in Todd County.
He entered the Navy at age 17 and sang in the Naval Choir. He saw action in the Euro-African and Pacific-Asiatic campaigns during World War II. After the war, he was stationed at Tillamook Naval Base, where he rigged and repaired parachutes. While at Tillamook, he met Loraine Margaret Keller and they were married June 24, 1946.
Mr. Anderson worked in the logging industry most of his life. After retiring from logging, he worked as a security guard at Lebanon Lumber for several years. He enjoyed the outdoors and was well known for his smile and hard work. His family was an important part of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Loraine; sons, Doug and daughter-in-law Pam of Sweet Home, Kevin of Veneta and Jeff and daughter-in-law Carol of Cottage Grove; daughter, Lisa and son-in-law Mark Aitken of Sweet Home; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Mae Harsh; and brothers, Roy and Charles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Bernice Bergstresser; and his brother, Harold.
At his request, no memorial service will be held. Memorial contributions can be made to Shriner’s Hospital in Portland. Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
