Former SH students receive medical scholarship awards

The Lebanon Community Hospital Foundation, Girod Scholarship Committee, Easton Scholarship Committee and Dinges Scholarship Committee are pleased to announce five winners of their scholarships for 2012.

The Girod Committee gave three scholarships this year for a total of $12,000 to:

n Nicholas Blake, formerly of Sweet Home, son of Zsuzsa and Dr. Alan Blake, in his third year at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU);

n Bradley Buchheit, formerly of Lebanon, son of Kevin and Lisa Buchheit, in his second year at State University of New York at Buffalo Medical School;

n Ericka Snow, formerly of Lebanon, daughter of Billy and Barbara Snow, in her first year at Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in New York.

Dr. Frank Girod was one of the founding members of Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital.

The family of the late Rachel Easton, a longtime nurse at Samaritan’s Park Street Clinic, awards the Rachel Easton, RN Scholarship each year in her honor to an east Linn County area student enrolled in a nursing program. This year’s scholarship went to Leslie Edwards, formerly of Lebanon, a nursing student at OHSU.

John and Carol Dinges of Lebanon award the Dinges Medical Scholarship every year to a graduate of a high school in east Linn County who is currently enrolled in an entry-level health career program at Linn-Benton Community College (LBCC). This year, the award went to Whitley Garber of Lebanon, for her nursing studies at LBCC.
