Four school board seats open

Four seats on the District 55 School Board are open in the May 17 election.

They include Foster, held by John Fassler; Cascadia, held by Leena Neuschwander; Sweet Home, held by Mike Reynolds; and Crawfordsville, held by David VanDerlip.

Fassler has already filed to run for another term. Reynolds told The New Era Friday evening that he planned to run for another term.

Neuschwander said she would not run again, planning to spend more time with her family. VanDerlip, who also has not filed, said he hasn’t made up his mind yet on what he is going to do.

March 17 is the deadline to file as a candidate for any of the seats.

Candidates must live in the area where they intend to seek office, be at least 18 years old and be a U.S. citizen. No at-large positions are open.

Candidates may file by gathering signatures or paying $10.

Candidates gathering signatures must fill out two forms, available online, including the SEL 190 and SEL 191. Those filing by paying $10 must fill out the form SEL 190.

The forms may be found at the secretary of state’s Website,
