Frances McLain, 80, of Sweet Home died Nov. 13, 2006 at Regent Court in Corvallis.
She was born in Spokane, Wash., to William Elton and Dorothea Marilyn (Juhnke) King. She married Paul G. McLain Aug. 20, 1945 in Bremerton, Wash. They moved to Sweet Home in 1953.
Mrs. McLain worked at the U.S. Navy Shipyard in Bremerton during World War II, the Illinois Bell Telephone Company in Chicago, the Sweet Home Telephone Company, the Sweet Home School District, and with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, from which she she retired in January of 1988.
Her main interests were family, travel, gardening, her pets, reading, photography, playing games, and art.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years; son, Paul K. and daughter-in-law Donna; daughter, Marilyn and son-in-law Renato; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Anderson, Alexander, Sydnie, Jonathan, and Jordan.
Other survivors include her brother, William H. “Rusty” King and sister-in-law Vicki, sisters Dorothea Jo Ann Baxter and brother-in-law Roy, and Mary Jane Baxter and brother-in-law Bill, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at Workman and Steckly Funeral Home, 1443 Long St. in Sweet Home followed by a private family graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The American Diabetes Association, Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, The American Heart Association, Safe Haven Humane Society in Albany, Benton Hospice Service in Corvallis, or the Sweet Home Senior Center would be appreciated.
