Frank LaRoy VanEpps, 86, of Crawfordsville, died Oct. 1, 2015.
He was born Nov. 22, 1928 in Crawfordsville to Harry White VanEpps and Hattie Mae (Cochell) Meisner.
He lived in Crawfordsville, Albany and Silverton, where he graduated from high school, and Valsetz.
As a young man, he was a commercial fisherman, fishing from Alaska to Mexico. He worked for Willamette Industries for 30-plus years, retiring in 1999.
Mr. VanEpps was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He attended Crawfordsville Community Church most of his adult life and volunteered as groundskeeper for the church.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, crabbing, rockhounding, making jewelry with the rocks, and gardening. He also liked woodworking, watching Oregon football and was a rattlesnake hunter. He loved to fish the Siletz River.
Mr. VanEpps is survived by his children, Joni and son-in-law John Jackson of Weirton, W.V., Frank VanEpps II of Sweet Home, and Cristi VanEpps Richardson of Crawfordsville; brother Raymond and sister-in-law Ivy of Sheridan; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Childers Wills; wife Leona VanEpps; and brothers Harry and John VanEpps.
Viewing will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Crawfordsville Community Church. A funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. Mausoleum placement will be at 2 p.m. at City View Cemetery in Salem.
