Fred Geil

Fred Aldin Geil, 67, of Albany, died March 13, 2009.

He was born July 26, 1941 in Lebanon to Floyd and Ruby (Kruenlein) Geil. He attended school in Portland, while his family lived there. He graduated from South Salem High School.

Mr. Geil served in the Army for two years, worked for his uncle Vernon at Sweet Home Plywood, and worked 32 years at Halsey Paper Mill.

He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir.

Mr. Geil is survived by his wife Lorane of Albany; children Susie Way of Newport and Sgt. Matthew Carpenter, currently in Iraq; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and his mother, Ruby Geil of Sweet Home.

He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd; and a sister.

A memorial service was held March 21 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Albany.
