Freddy Lee Grissom, 59, of Sweet Home died June 9, 2009.
He was born May 19, 1950 in Redding, Calif. to Fred Leon and Violet Marie (Lang) Grissom. He moved to Sweet Home at 2 months of age. He attended schools in Sweet Home, graduating from Sweet Home High School in 1968.
Mr. Grissom served in the Army from 1968 to 1976, stationed in the US, Korea, and Germany. After his military service he lived in Alaska and Florida before he settled in Missouri in 1982. He later returned to Sweet Home in 2004.
Mr. Grissom enjoyed crafting, cane making and gardening. He loved trips to the coast and family hunting and camping trips.
He is survived by his mother, Violet Grissom; daughters; Wendy Grissom, Tanya Holly and Mary Ann Grissom, all of Pennsylvania, and Lora Kay Hester of Salem, Mo.; nine grandchildren; brother Robert Grissom of Sweet Home; sisters Edna Pearson of Woodburn, and Fern Grissom, Debra Wolf and Kathy Steinbacher, all of Sweet Home.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Grissom, in 1975; and daughter Kimberly Michelle in 1994.
A funeral service was held June 13 at Cornerstone Fellowship in Sweet Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his name to Sweet Home Funeral Chapel, which is handling the arrangements.
