Fun and games on the road

These local women made up two teams that competed in the July 11-12 Barrel to Keg relay from Philomath to Newport. They won first place in the costume division. Participants were, not necessarily in the order pictured, Lori Brown, Becky Mezsei, Shawna Yunke, April Seward, Rachael Tyler, Heather Thorpe, Laurie Boyd, Mindy Cummins Brown, Vicki Bauer, Shannon Pettner and Karri Watts. In front is Erika Baham. Their two team names were Old Lady Problems and What’s Wrong With the Pound Sign? The teams ran side-by-side to the finish line, literally seconds apart in just over 11 hours and nine minutes for the 111-kilometer (66.6-mile course). Old Lady Problems was second in the masters women competition, while What’s Wrong with the Pound Sign? finished 19th out of 25 teams in the Open Women’s division.
