Due to lower-than-projected revenues, the Sweet Home Public Library will reduce its hours, closing on Wednesdays.
Director Rose Peda said that property tax revenues have been lower than projected, and the Library Board has recommended closing on Wednesday beginning July 1.
“Since the library has historically been closed on Wednesdays, it is the day that sees the lowest usage,” Peda said, reading an announcement by the board. “Therefore the board felt that Wednesday closures would have the least impact on the community. The board regrets having to make this recommendation but feels that it is necessary to ensure the library’s continuing financial stability.”
Beginning July 1, library hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
