Garage destroyed in Lebanon fire

Fire destroyed this garage Monday morning, Feb. 14, in the 300 block of 13th St., Lebanon.

According to the Lebanon Fire District, the blaze was reported at around 9 a.m.

Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found a fully involved detached garage fire threatening the main house. The residents were evacuating the structure; however, an elderly woman required assistance. So the arriving battalion chief helped an unidentified Good Samaritan help move her from her motorized wheelchair into a smaller wheelchair. Together, they were able to carry her out the front door because the back door, the report said, was unusable due to its proximity to the fire.

Lebanon Fire responded with four suppression apparatus, with 15 firefighters and five chief officers. It took about 20 minutes to control the blaze.

Firefighters remained on scene for another hour and a half overhauling to ensure that the fire was fully extinquished and that there were no hot spots. The fire damaged some of the home’s siding and broke a window on the side closest to the fire. Firefighters were able to keep it contained to the garage, which was determined to be a complete loss.

No injuries were reported.
