Genevieve Mary Carlin

Nov. 14, 1920 – May 23, 2016

Genevieve Mary Carlin, 95, of Sweet Home passed away Monday. She was born in Manly, Iowa to Laurence and Anna Pauline (Cholick) Popp.

She was raised in Minnesota and moved to Newport at age 22. She worked at Mo’s Restaurant and the Bumble Bee Cannery.

Genevieve moved to Oregon in about 1947; married Benjamin Carlin and became a housewife and mother of many. After Ben’s passing she went to work for White’s Electronics, frwhere she retired in 1985.

She loved gardening, raising chickens, and for fun she enjoyed crossword puzzles.

Genevieve was adamant that we place this in her obituary: Do not vote for Hillary Clinton.

Genevieve is survived by eight children: Gene Jenkins of Florence, Sylvia Anderson and Danny Carlin, both of Sweet Home, Patti Carlin and Linda Carnaroli, both of Albany, Debbie Carlin and Mike Carlin, both of Sweet Home, and Bernadette Carlin of Lebanon; 18 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and even a few great-great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Carlin in 1981; daughter Sally Jenkins in 1959; and son Jack Jenkins in 2008.

Viewing will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 3, at Sweet Home Mennonite Church. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Final burial will be at Gilliland Cemetery.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
