Girls blanked by strong Western Mennonite

Sweet Home’s girls soccer squad lost 6-0 to a powerful Western Mennonite squad Monday afternoon at home.

The Huskies had their chances, Coach Ramiro Santana said, but it wasn’t enough to get on the scoreboard.

Santana said his team is improving, though, despite the lopsided score.

“My girls are putting things together,” he said. “They’re starting to pass and communication is much better between them.”

The visitors had some power players Santana said. But he said his team showed offensive grit too, just not enough to get a score.

“We had pressure up there,” he siad. “They didn’t even cross the midfield line. We had opportunities. The shooting part is the only thing that is coming hard.”

The Huskies host Riverdale today at 4:15 p.m.
