Girls half-court defense good, lose game over missed shots, transition

Toledo 53

Sweet Home 36

Toledo defeated the Husky girls basketball team 53-36 on the road Friday night.

“I think we played really well defensively,” Coach Jason Gorham said. “We struggled in transition. We gave up some layins in transition.”

The girls played solid half-court defense though, Coach Gorham aid. They had a number of open shots at the basket, and if those had fallen, it would have been a different game.

The Huskies trailed 17-7 after the first quarter and 35-17 at halftime. Toledo increased its lead to 45-19 by the end of the third quarter.

Kendra Greene led scoring for the Huskies with 11 points. Lei Himan-Teves added eight; Teresa Lewis, four; Rachel Gaskey, four; Ashley Wall, three; Chelsea Hackworth, three; and Hannah Swanson, three.
