Girls have bad week on hoops court

The Huskies had a rough time shooting last week, losing at home to Central 63-24 on Jan. 12 and Philomath 46-5 on Friday.

Central was ranked fourth in statewide polls, Coach John Barnes said. “We just came out flat. Normally, we play hard, but we didn’t play hard for four quarters.”

Against Philomath, the Huskies played decently on the defensive end, Barnes said. “We just didn’t keep on the scoring side.”

The team took more than 30 shots around the paint, he said. “We had a lot of good shots. They just didn’t go in. We’ve had bad quarters like that, but not four in a row. I feel bad for the kids.” They’ll keep working hard at it, he added.
