Girls look to improve on last soccer season with talented squad

With a lot of returning talent, Sweet Home girls soccer hopes to improve on last season’s record of 3-7-1.

The team returns seven starters – senior defender Meagan Baham, senior forward Chloe Fairchild, senior forward Maddie Harris, senior midfielder Jenna Wolthuis, senior goalkeeper Andra Gordon, junior defender Brooke Burke, and junior midfielder Iris Erickson.

The Huskies have 23 girls on their roster, including eight freshmen, five sophomores, two juniors, and eight seniors.

There is some turnover on the team, with 10 players from last spring not returning and nine new additions to the squad.

Seniors on the team are Andra Gordon, Maddie Harris, Jaiden Nennull, Isabel Sayer, Meagan Baham, Chloe Fairchild, Jenna Wolthuis and Kami Hart.

Juniors are Brooke Burke and Iris Erickson.

Sophomores are Zianna Duncan, Ivy Dewitte, Cadence Makinson, Rylee Markell and Kallie Maas.

Freshmen joining the team are Tierney Clarno, Amelia Sullens, Zoe Garrett, Peyton Markell, Beatrice Reeve, Emerson Martineau, Arielle Erickson and Alyssa Cruz.

“It’s pretty hard to do predictions when things are new,” said Head Coach Ramiro Santana. “Just getting to know the girls is a challenge.”
