Girls lose to Philomath, Lebanon in summer hoops

The high school girls summer basketball team lost its opening games of summer season to Philomath and Lebanon on June 6.

The Huskies lost 39-31 to Philomath to open the season. They lost 36-24 to Lebanon.

“I was pretty happy for our first game out,” Coach Jason Gorham said. “We hadn’t had a lot of practice time.”

The Huskies had plenty of chances to win but couldn’t pull it out, Gorham said.

Against Lebanon, “Tabby (Trahan) played really well,” Gorham said. “She shot the ball well for us.”

Jenny Hamn, “for her first game playing on varsity, did a nice job inside,” Gorham said. She played strong, went up for the ball and played with confidence.

The Huskies will play in a six-game tournament in Stayton Thursday through Saturday.
