An injury-riddled Sweet Home girls basketball team lost a pair of games early last week.
On Monday, June 7, Stayton bested the Huskies 42-25.
“We’re just down some players because of injury,” said Head Coach Michelle Knight. “There’s nothing we did wrong, we’re just down some kids. We have a smaller rotation, so we run out of gas sooner.”
Brooke Burke scored 12, Natalie Rodgers scored six, and Shelbey Nichol added four.
The matchup against Sisters on June 8 was “kind of the same” injury-wise for the Huskies, according to Knight.
“Sisters definitely came wanting to win,” she said.
And the Outlaws did emerge victorious on Sweet Home’s court, beating the Huskies 43-31.
Rodgers led the team with 14 points, Nichol scored six, and Katie Robeck scored six.
Sweet Home’s senior night is Wednesday, when the Huskies will host Cascade at 7 p.m.
Knight said the last scheduled game of the season, against Philomath at home at 6 p.m. on Friday, might be cancelled because “We have a bunch of kids gone and kids injured, so we might not have enough to play on Friday night.”
