The Husky girls soccer team opened its season with a 13-0 loss to Pleasant Hill on the road on Sept. 5.
The team had been scheduled to play Philomath but ended up playing Pleasant Hill unexpectedly.
Coach Eric Markell said the Pleasant Hill Billies were “the hottest I’ve seen. They’re pretty much the best team I’ve ever coached against. Everything they did was perfect.”
Both Philomath and Pleasant Hill were state contenders last year, Markell said, so it would have been a tough game either way.
The Huskies ended up running only 11 players, Markell said. One was out for grades, and the team had no subs.
The team next faces Creswell at home on Sept. 14.
