Girls soccer team defeats Gervais 4-0

The girls soccer team got its first win of the season 4-0 at Gervais on Sept. 23.

“They kept getting in trouble on the bus” after the game, Coach Eric Markell said. “They were so noisy and rowdy.”

The girls were excited after dominating “most of the game,” Coach Markell said. “We fell apart at the end. It gave us more things to work on.”

The Huskies shot the ball well and passed well during the game, Coach Markell said. Those are two of the main things the team hasn’t been doing well.

Defense did well for a while, Coach Markell said. Then it fell apart. The team had a hard time marking up, and that’s what cost the Huskies against Santiam Christian the previous week.

Melissa Walczyk scored the Huskies first goal. Sarah Winslow had a hat trick, scoring three goals for the Huskies.
