Sweet Home girls soccer (1-2-2) started league play with a 2-2 tie at Stayton (0-4-1).
“It went pretty well for us,” Head Coach Ramiro Santana said. “We put pressure on them most of the time. But we missed quite a bit. Our aim was not great.”
“We should have won the game,” the coach said. “We had more opportunities. We had more of the ball than they did. We controlled it more, passed it more, and had the ball more on our side. We just couldn’t finish it towards the end. We just didn’t score, but we played much better than they did.”
Sweet Home scored first four minutes into the game, but Stayton soon bounced back with a goal in the eighth minute. The Eagles then took the lead with a goal in the 22nd minute. But Sweet Home scored a tying goal 10 minutes later.
Both Husky goals were scored by forward Anabelle Morris. The first goal was assisted by midfielder Audrie Frangente.
Sweet Home took 19 shots on goal, while Stayton took 10.
Sweet Home plays at Cascade (1-3) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27, and then plays at Newport (4-0-1) at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29.
