The Sweet Home Rodeo Committee deserves special recognition for its work this year through adverse circumstances ? mainly the weather.
Rain hammered the rodeo?s attendance. An event that was poised to make money fell short in revenues.
But like the stand-up folks they are, members of the committee and one member of the community covered the revenue shortfall to make sure bills are being paid and the rodeo will be ready to go again next year.
The rodeo commitee is working on fund-raising events over the next year to develop a literal rainy-day fund to get it through years with bad weather.
Members of the rodeo committee work countless hours to put on the event in Sweet Home. They do it because they love rodeo and they love Sweet Home.
They gain nothing, financially, for their efforts; in fact, in many cases, it can cost them money on top of their valuable time. For that, we thank them.
The sponsors who step up and fund this event deserve the same recognition, along with the volunteers who help the committee leading up to and during the event.
As the rodeo committee builds its safety net over the next year, step up and give it a hand.
Attend rodeo fund-raising events and have fun.
And when you see the members of this year?s Rodeo Committee ? Dave and Kellie Kem, Dick Coffin, Anita and Dave Butler, Dan Brewer and Sue and Don Johnston ? take a moment to go out of your way to thank them for their efforts.
