Gladstone beats Huskies at the wire

The Huskies lost to Gladstone 58-56 following a tight, back-and-forth effort.

The Huskies overcame a 20-13 deficit after the first quarter to lead 35-32 at halftime. Gladstone slipped ahead 46-44 by the end of the third quarter.

The Huskies closed a six-point gap in the closing minute of the game. After scoring with 1.28 seconds on the clock, Gladstone threw the ball out of bounds on a full-court inbounds attempt.

With 1.28 seconds left, the Huskies had an opportunity to score. Gavin Kauffman took the inbounds pass but missed a long baseline jumper to end the game.

Kauffman led the Huskies with 20 points; Drew Emmert, 13; Jerome Coleman, eight; Brent Moyer, five; Willie Jones, four; Brock Cota, two; John Webb, two; and Levi Marchbanks, two.

Walters led Gladstone with 20 oints; Jackson, 16; Hollinsworth, nine; Minton, four; Varner, four; Bass, three; Imhold, two; Thompson; Shepperd; Webster; and Hortleban.
