Gladys E. Santesson, 91, of Foster, died May 17, 2007. She was born in Molalla to Ezra and Ada (Kaufman) Burkholder, the youngest of nine children and the last living child.
After graduating from high school, she went to work in Oregon City for a soil conservation company. In 1938 she married Fred Santesson and they moved to Sweet Home in 1945.
She was a member of the Sweet Home Church of Christ on 18th and Long for more than 60 years. She taught Sunday School and told missionary stories for many years.
Mrs. Santesson was a homemaker with many interests. She belonged to the Sweet Home Home Extension for 45-plus years and was known for her wonderful cooking. She made the best soups.
She loved to cook, garden, can, clean, dig clams, fish and she really loved to play games, especially Pinochle. She loved entertaining and having friends and family around.
Mrs. Santesson is survived by two children, Sheryl Santesson of Sweet Home, and Darrel and his wife, Norma Santesson of Vancouver, Wash.; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
She was recently preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Santesson.
A memorial service will be held at 11a.m. Saturday, May 26, at 18th and Long Church of Christ. If friends do not wish to send flowers, memorial contributions can be made to 18th and Long Church of Christ. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
